The NBA (National Basketball Association) will celebrate its 75th anniversary in the 2021-22 season. 75 years of tradition and history precede what promises to be a spectacular year of on-court action. NBA India has been remembering this momentous year by announcing Ranveer Singh as its Brand Ambassador and a new weekly show, as well as the debut of NBA Style, a new lifestyle-focused platform on Instagram.
Golden State Warriors’ Stephen Curry overtook Ray Allen on November 13th against the Chicago Bulls to become the all-time leader in three-pointers in NBA Playoffs and regular season. Considering this, who are the NBA’s most prolific regular-season shooters?
5. Kyle Korver
Kyle Korver is the fifth-best three-point shooter of all time. In 2003, he was drafted into the NBA and immediately demonstrated his shooting ability on the court. Korver is a former All-Star and one of the most efficient three-point shooters in NBA history, with 2,450 three-pointers made at a 42.9 percent clip. In four seasons of his career (2010, 2014, 2015, and 2017), he was the most effective three-point shooter, shooting an all-time high 53.6 percent from three in 2010.
4. James Harden
One of the best scorers of the current generation is James Harden, a former MVP. In addition to being a multiple-time scoring leader, his three-point shooting has been crucial to his success. Over the course of his career, Harden has made 2,495 threes on 36.4% efficiency. He ranks fourth all-time in terms of shooting proficiency, and he still has years to go.
3. Reggie Miller
In his prime, Reggie Miller was one of the best players in the 90s and possessed outstanding shooting abilities. Miller made 2,560 three-pointers in 1389 games, shooting 39.5 percent of the time. Miller held the all-time three-point shooting record for 19 years until the next two people on this list passed him. He is one of just eight players in history to have a 50-40-90 season (50 percent shooting from the field, 40 percent from three, 90 percent from the free-throw line).
2. Stephen Curry
Stephen Curry may be the best player in both the playoffs and the regular season, but he still needs a few more three-pointers to take the lead. Curry’s five consecutive appearances in the NBA Finals meant a lot of long playoff campaigns during which he continued to shoot threes at a historic rate. In 778 games played, he has made 2,918 regular-season threes for a 43.2 percent shooting percentage.
1. Ray Allen
Ray Allen leads the pack with the best regular-season three-point shooting percentages in the NBA’s 75-year history. Allen appeared in 1,300 games during his career, making 2,973 three-pointers. In his career, he shot exactly 40% from beyond the arc. The two-time NBA champion was a lethal shooter who holds the record for being the most prolific shooter in NBA history. We’ll have to watch how long this record holds up with Stephen Curry and James Harden breathing down his neck.
